You’re Invited: Awakening of the Pole! 

Rooted in Coast Salish Lands & Waters Hosted by the Biocultural Corridor & Ancestral FoodWays Collective 

 

Join us for a powerful day of cultural resurgence, community connection, and deep grounding as we Awaken the Pole—carved by John Spence, Squamish artist, carver, and board member of Ancestral FoodWays. 

When: Saturday, May 31st at 12:00 PM 

Where: Strathcona Park, 857 Talking Ave (Vancouver, unceded Coast Salish territories) 

What to Expect: Drumming, storytelling, cultural sharing, and a beautiful community meal. Lunch will be provided!

Join us for a beautiful Day of the Dead Mayan Fire Ceremony and Altar at the Indigenous Food Festival!

What to Bring: Candles, food to share, pictures, offerings to honor and give thanks to the ancestors, as well as songs and music to celebrate and remember.

Special Note: We will also set up a small altar at the garden for additional offerings and remembrance.

When: November 1, 2025, from 11 AM to 5 PM
 Where: Strathcona Field House, 857 Malkin Ave
